Turning stories into stability for Memory Care residents.
We’re a senior living community in Branford, CT, providing the comforts of home in a secure environment, and featuring four distinct, smaller neighborhoods within a larger community. Each of our four neighborhoods leads to the heart of the community—The Town Center, a place to gather and take advantage of all the services and amenities we have to offer.
Our communities use intentional design to encourage independence and provide security for our residents. The open neighborhood design allows residents to move throughout the community in a safe way, while our well-thought-out individual residences reinforce familiarity to provide a sense of the comforts of home. With surroundings that accommodate the needs of those who live with Memory Care, our care partners can focus on getting to know and celebrate the uniqueness of each resident.
Katie shares her multiple skills with our community.
Katie is not only a wonderful spokesperson for our community as a Resident Ambassador, but she’s also a former Director of Nursing. At a recent community blood pressure and wellness clinic, Katie helped run our event and made sure the residents were involved. When families tour our community, Katie is there offering advice and kind words, letting everyone know she’s a retired Director of Nursing and keeps us on our toes. Then, when a new resident moves in, she’s always there to help out her new neighbor.
Talking more than chess with Dr. Bob.
Dr. Bob, a retired psychologist and avid chess player, is as good at listening as he is at chess. When he first arrived at Artis of Branford, he taught our care team how to play, and some of them even became good enough to beat him. After each match, our associates always walked away feeling better about their day. They soon realized Dr. Bob was doing more than just teaching them chess. He was helping them feel heard and validated.
Our resident horse expert, Carol.
Carol was living at home with her brother, and started feeling restless and in need of a purpose. To help, we partnered with him to coordinate a “job interview” between her and our Director of Marketing for a position at Artis where she’d need to live on-site. Carol chose to teach our residents about horses and was excited about her new position. On her move-in day, she set up her suite and got right to work.
Polly, the conductor of our heartstrings.
Our community pianist, Polly, adds happiness and cheer to the holidays with her beautiful collection of holiday classics she plays from memory. She’ll even take requests. In fact, anytime our Director of The Artis Way gives her a new piece to learn for a competition between our sister communities, she takes great pride in getting it ready for show time.
Memory Care The Artis Way.
At Artis Senior Living, we offer specialized care and innovative engagement programming for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. But Artis is more than just our name. It also represents our senior living philosophy and serves as a reminder of how we treat our Memory Care residents. ARTIS stand for:
A Ability to Have a Voice
R Respecting and Maintaining Relationships
T Treasuring Each Person’s Uniqueness
S Success and Recognition
That’s The Artis Way. When you’re ready to explore your loved one’s dementia care options, or if you’re just trying to figure out when someone with dementia needs 24-hour care, we’re here to help.
“Resident Peter moved to Artis at 101 years old and has since celebrated two birthdays with us.”
